Wonders
The Vikings saw the lightning and heard the thunder. They had no explanation for it. So they credited Thor - their thunder-god, and his hammer of the heavens. They had a good excuse, for they lived 1200 years ago. We would have no excuse for such a belief today. Yet still there are people who will see something they don't understand - and say "a god must have done it".
Will you shrug your shoulders? Will you give an invisible, imagined being the credit for causing the weather to change, the crops to grow, the baby to form, the stars to shine?
It is always more wonderful to investigate and understand; better to learn and face the reality that new knowledge brings. Study, read, go deep and switch on your mind. You will then see real beauty.
Meteorology, chaos theory, botany, genetics, evolutionary biology, astronomy, physics, chemistry, geology. The list goes on - but you know what I mean - I mean Science.
Proper, skilled, studied, peer-reviewed research.
Real, hard-won knowledge - not the sort that comes out of the often well-meant, but nevertheless false, scribblings of Bronze Age scribes, superstitious astrologers and crystal gazers.
My intention is to develop my own list of Wonders - things that astound and delight me in nature.
But first I'm working on the "Reasons" section of the site. So check back here from time to time. Shouldn't be too long.
