Born near Liverpool in 1961, I became a Christian in 1979, de-converted 25 years later in 2004, and became a Humanist soon afterwards. From a scientific background, I now research ancient mythologies, biblical criticism, church history, as well as the sciences of evolutionary biology and cosmology.

Music
I began writing music in 1977, some of which is found on this site. My varied style has been influenced by an eclectic and voracious musical appetite. You will hear traces of the Beatles (inevitably) as well as Nick Drake, Pink Floyd and Tchaikovski.

Mindfulness
Although I am generally cheerful and optimistic, I am naturally prone to occasional attacks of depression. In my battle against this I have found “Mindfulness” to be very useful. I’ve devoted some pages here to an insight into its workings and practice.
